Horseman Forsman

It takes the time it takes …

Reflections from Forsmanship Students in the learning dimension

Interviews with students reveal some fascinating insights into Forsmanship training and the benefits that have flowed. These videos mark the beginning of a new series. We have already interviewed a number of students and will be uploading further clips of interviews plus action footage, documenting their progress at clinics in applying aspects of the Forsmanship methods. Through these videos, we hope you can gain a greater understanding of the work.

Forsmanship utbildning - Maria Amalie Andersen intervju from Forsmanship on Vimeo.

Maria Amalie Andersen
speaks out with passion about her experience as a student of Stefan and Forsmanship training since 2008. Maria is from Norway and speaks here (in her mother tongue Norweigen) about reasons for returning to study with Forsman again and again.

Regardless of whether you are working with animals or not, Maria Andersen says that training with Stefan Forsman goes beyond and more. As a horse owner, she says that traditional methods she was previously exposed to were 'just not not effective' In fact, she adds, she was about to quit the horse industry altogether and sell her horse but after her first 6 day clinic with Stefan, she decided to keep her horse PLUS buy another horse and 'has not looked back' since. ''Stefan's course not only changed my interest in horses and animals, it was life changing,’’ she says. We catch her in between absorbing more Forsmanship theory during a course in Nittedal, outside of Oslo. Also featured in the video is Forsmanship practitioner and Norweigen champion horsewoman Bjørg Andreassen Hals demonstrating some smooth moves with Zantos her award winning arabian and Forsmanship trained all rounder!

Eline Aarthun
of Norway first became a student of Stefan Forsman and his natural horsemanship methods in Spring of 2010, attending a clinic to attain a foundation certificate in the Forsmanship methodology. Eline followed this up with an intermediate training program in Summer of the same year. Prior to this, Eline had grown up with an understanding of the Forsmanship methodology from her father who had studied with Stefan in the late 1990s. He wanted to achieve the results of Stefan's training to improve the performance of his horses but also to ensure that they would be calm and therefore safe for his children to handle, especially for Eline who had a back problem.

Eline has come to understand that humans are responsible for the behaviour of their horses, which means if a horse is displaying what some would call high spirited energy - this is in fact nervous, unpredictable and dangerous behaviour. But it is not the fault of the horse. The problem - as the Forsmanship training method proves - sits with the human who owns and raises the horse.
